Happy 2010!
March 29, 2010 by Clara KimYes, I’m a few months late… but hope everyone’s year is off to a fabulous start! Although I’ve been terribly remiss in updating the blog, I do have new photos in my portfolio and on my Facebook page, so please check those out.
Here is a preview of what I’ve been up to in the past few months:

Julie and JP’s wedding
October 27, 2009 by Clara KimJulie isn’t the type to wear much makeup on an everyday basis, and keeping that in mind, I went for the natural look for both ceremonies.
For Julie’s Friday ceremony, we decided to leave her hair down with one side pulled and pinned with a fragrant gardenia behind her ear. I used light taupe and ivory shades on her eyes along with cool toned pink blush and lips. The simple elegance of her hair and makeup offset the clean lines of her gown and suited her intimate garden ceremony.

For Saturday’s large Indian celebration, I styled Julie’s hair in a soft updo enhanced with traditional Indian jewelry, and balanced a stronger red lip with neutral eyes and individual false eyelashes.

Bay Area wedding
September 29, 2009 by Clara KimSince I lived there for several years, the Bay Area is like my home away from home, and some of my dearest friends live up there. I’m flying up tonight to meet with my friend Julie who is getting married this weekend and celebrating with two separate ceremonies. Tomorrow is our trial, and I think I’ll try out a natural makeup look with half-up half-down hair for her small Friday ceremony, and then a slightly more dramatic look with a soft romantic updo for her larger Saturday ceremony.
I am excited that the weather is decidedly more autumnal (finally!). After a long summer, I am looking forward to digging up my sweaters and jackets and boots and scarves, especially since the weather in SF is always cooler than LA.
MAC master class and update
September 16, 2009 by Clara KimI recently attended a MAC Cosmetics Master Class in Bridal Beauty led by Victor C. It was held at the South Coast Plaza MAC Pro store and consisted of equal parts tips and tricks that Victor has amassed over the past 15 years of working at MAC and doing hundreds of weddings, as well as a live demonstration of two different bridal looks in collaboration with Julie, another MAC makeup artist and trainer. It was fun and informative, and I picked up some good techniques as well as a few new additions to my kit.
I’m also very excited to announce that I’ll be working with Theresa Huang of Theresa Huang Makeup & Hair Design. She does amazing work, and I am looking forward to being part of her team. I’ll still be freelancing and doing my own weddings, but this is a great opportunity for me to get hands-on training (especially with bridal hair) from an experienced artist.
In addition, I have several weddings and photoshoots coming up in the next few months. I’m definitely keeping busy!
